Just ordered my first round of books for my Special Reading Course: one on juggling parenting and spiritual practice, and seeing parenting as a spiritual practice in and of itself. They arrive in a couple days!
Parenting as a Spiritual Journey
Dharma Family Treasures: Sharing Buddhism with Children
Nurturing Spirituality in Children: Simple Hands-On Activities
Circle Round: Raising Children in Goddess Traditions
The Hip Mama Survival Guide: Advice from the Trenches
Pagan Parenting
Parenting with Spirit: 30 Ways to Nurture Your Child's Spirituality and Enrich Your Family's Life
I intentionally picked multi-religious books. Some are Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, and others Pagan. Looking for common threads and themes as well as differences. I still have several that are in the queue, but this should last me a couple months, on top of my reading for my online class for seminary.
I have already read The Tibetian Art of Parenting and My Mother Wears Combat Boots.
I also have books on the list about raising atheist kids.
In personal news, the countdown has officially begun, and I am starting to panic.
What? Only three weeks before my due date and I squeeze this thing outta me? Argh! I am going swimming tomorrow to get more exercise and build up my cardio fitness in these last few weeks...
The house has so much more to do, cleaning and furniture-wise. Hopefully, we'll get help soon. The car seat/stroller combo has not yet arrived, and we cannot take the baby home without a car seat!
And we need to replace the brake shoes in the rear of the car ASAP!
